Hide payment methods Using Checkout Blocks & Customizer

Use Checkout Blocks and the Customizer to hide specific payment methods at checkout. This helps reduce clutter, prevent unsupported options, and guide customers toward preferred payment choices.

Step 1: Select the Apps section on your Shopify Admin panel

Once you’ve installed the app, log in to your Shopify admin.

You’ll see a menu on the left side of the screen.
Click on Apps, then look for Checkout Blocks and Customizer and open it.


Step 2: Navigate to Dashboard

Click on the Dashboard to see all the different configurations available to you.

Step 3: Let's Start

Now let's start by looking for the Hide payment method on your dashboard.

Step 4: Click Create Button

Click the Create button to start configuring a new checkout extension.

Step 5: Open payment methods Section

Click here to have a good look at the different payment methods that are available on your store.

Pro Tip : You can configure multiple rules with different conditions, so be careful about configuring whether "All rules pass" or "Any rule passes"


Step 6: Select payment method

Select the payment method you want, to modify its visibility settings.

In this case we are selecting Cash on Delivery.

Step 7: Add New Rule

Now, let’s add a rule to define the condition that determines when this payment method is displayed at checkout.

This rule allows you to control the visibility of the payment option based on specific criteria, ensuring it appears only when it’s relevant to the customer or order.

Step 8: Choose rule.

Select from the list of available items to tailor your rule.

For example, we’re choosing Cart Total as the rule, which will determine the condition for displaying this payment method.

Step 9: Select Conditions

Click the condition operator dropdown to choose how the rule will be evaluated.

We are going forward with Less Than as the operator.

Step 10: Open Value Field

Now let's select the value field and enter a number that will be used to determine the condition.

Step 11: We are almost there!

Click Save to apply the rule and update the payment method visibility settings.

As shown, we’ve configured the rule to block Cash on Delivery (COD) when the cart total is less than 100.

Step 12: Now let's test it out.

Switch to the storefront to test the checkout experience with the new payment method rules.

Step 13: Select a product

Continue to select and add any product to the cart and test the payment method visibility.

First, We are adding a product which does not satisfy our condition.

Pro Tip: It is always better to test out with multiple products and scenarios


Step 14: COD Available

As you can see the cart total is more than 100 so the Cash on Delivery(COD) option is available as it does not satisfy our condition.

Step 15: Select another Product

Now selecting a product which satisfies the condition applied by us i.e. less than 100 as cart total.

Step 16: Here we go..

And here you go as the cart total is less than 100 we have restricted COD as a payment method for you.

Removing clutter, minimizing confusion and providing a smooth checkout experience for the customers.
